Alexis Sanchez’s time at Manchester United reached another low on Wednesday with a remarkably ineffectual substitute appearance against title contenders Manchester City.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer threw the Chilean international attacker on for Matteo Darmian in the 83rd minute of United’s 2-0 defeat by City to try and add more rhythm in the attacking play but Sanchez, only managed to touch the ball once in a total of 12 minutes on the pitch, including the five added on.
Supporters
United supporters were left dismayed
as the standard of Sanchez’s contribution made it out on to Twitter in the aftermath
of their defeat.
‘Most expensive touch ever?’ one fan
wrote, while another was left to rue the overall position of United.
‘The state of this club,’ they wrote, as the reality of the defeat sank
in.
