CR7 WHO? The World Reacts

The Italian Football Giants huge investment in the Portuguese to try and secure Champions League glory has ended in dire frustrations.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s hopes of champion’s league glory with the Italian giants are over, for this year at least, after a brilliant display by Dutch champions and former Europe powerhouse Ajax Amsterdam.

Goals from the (Manchester United target) Donny van de Beek and Matthijs de Ligt cancelled out Ronaldo’s opener and sealed a 3-2 aggregate victory for the Dutch side. The youthful Dutch side previous mission was hauling Spanish Giants Real Madrid.

Juventus splashed out €100 million (£86.4/$133m) to bring the former Manchester United, Real madrid star and 5 times Ballon d’Or winner to Turin to fuel a charge of European glory.

The Portuguese forward has lifted the champion’s league trophy 5 times, once with Manchester United in 2008 and four times with Real Madrid.

Ronaldo is nearing his retiring days and this comes as a shock to the Juventus management and fans. Ajax’s victory has ended those dreams in a stunning fashion and very heartbreaking to CR7 who could miss in this year’s Ballon d’Or top 3 race and also meaning the Champions League semi-finals will not feature (Ronaldo) for the first time since 2010, when Real Madrid were knocked out in the last 16 by Lyon Fc from France.

Unsurprisingly, there has been a huge reaction to the failure of Juventus’ very expensive gamble with better and young signings in Kylian Mbappé, or place their faith on young Argentine professional Paulo Bruno Exequiel Dybala
